Mike Marts, our Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder, is a seasoned insider with over twenty years of experience in the comic book and entertainment business. He has edited some of the most critically acclaimed and highest-selling series of the last two decades, and has spearheaded several of the industry’s most popular franchises including Batman, the X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. With long tenures at both Marvel Entertainment and DC Comics, Mike brings along an extensive history of dynamic storytelling and universe building.
Joe Pruett, our Publisher/CCO and Co-Founder, is an Eisner award winning comic book editor, publisher, and writer with over 25 years of experience. Joe was nominated for numerous Eisner and Harvey awards as a writer, editor and publisher, including for his work on Negative Burn at Caliber Comics. He is also known for his work at Marvel, where he wrote for X-Men Unlimited, Wolverine, and Cable. Joe founded Desperado Publishing in 2004, which had a publishing partnership with Image Comics and IDW.
Lee Kramer, our President and Co-Founder, is a film production and development executive who has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Lee was the head Story Analyst at Endeavor, and worked with producer Cathy Schulman, who produced the Academy Award winning film Crash and the Illusionist. Lee has also served as a development and production executive at Mandalay Pictures, and has produced several television shows for HBO.
Mike Zagari, our Senior Vice President, Brand, oversees the print and digital initiatives involving overall brand, art direction, marketing, aspects of new content creation, distribution, advertising, as well as retailer, customer and creative talent communications. He also leads our innovative and immersive story-driven digital experiences. During his time as Executive Producer for Disney Publishing Digital, the team rose to be the #1 Global Kids app publisher. In this role, he led production and creative for dozens of Disney, Marvel & Star Wars apps, several of which received the prestigious Apple iTunes Best of the Year award. With Marvel Entertainment, he spearheaded the extension of film experiences to print products across new and existing formats. With DC Comics, he oversaw the digital art direction of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of DC Comics library for both online and digital initiatives.
Jon Kramer, our Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, is an entertainment entrepreneur with extensive international production and distribution experience. He is currently serving as CEO of Rive Gauche, a reality TV business, which Jon purchased in 2003. Prior to acquiring Rive Gauche, Jon was the president of Promark Entertainment Corporation, where he was responsible for all the company’s activities, including production and distribution. Under Jon’s leadership, Promark produced 40 feature films, including films for HBO. Before moving to Promark, Jon held senior positions at New Century Vista Films, CBS Theatrical Films, Times Mirror Cable TV, and United Artist Theatres.
Jawad Qureshi, our Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Co-Founder, is an experienced Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor. Jawad spent 15 years in the sales industry, selling high tech equipment to the U.S. government. Since then he has served as the CEO and co-founder of Vpype, an interactive video broadcast application, and has invested in numerous tech startups and real estate ventures. Jawad is also an award-winning executive film producer.
Lisa Y. Wu, our Retailer/Fan Relations Manager, is experienced in community outreach for diverse online organizations, in particular comics and pop culture. She specializes in leveraging innovative and dynamic marketing strategies to maximize brand awareness. She excels in outreach, interaction, and continuous improvement of services. She has successfully expanded event and social media awareness for several clients across the Hampton Roads Virginia area, and is proud to be putting her skills to work on behalf of Aftershock Comics. Additionally, she continues to act and model on the East Coast and write for the online pop culture blog, “God Hates Geeks.”
Stephan Nilson, our Publishing Operations Manager, is an Eisner Award-accepting comic book creator that has been working in comics and television for fifteen years. He has written and edited for DC Comics, Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros, Universal and others. For the past three years Stephan was the Production Manager for a video and animation production house in Tampa, Florida, working for clients such as Miller Lite, Adidas, and Strider bikes’ Team Japan.
Ashley Wyatt, our Publishing Assistant, began her career in the comic book industry almost ten years ago as an assistant manager at a comic book store in Warner Robins, Georgia. She has worked and attended comic and anime conventions too numerous to count. After earning her BA in accounting from Kennesaw State University, she joined AfterShock full-time. Her artistic love for the industry is unwavering.
Michael Richter, a Co-Founder, is a seasoned media and technology executive with over 15 years experience helping build and grow companies from early stages of development. He has served as a senior executive at eBay and Facebook (including serving as Facebook’s Chief Privacy Officer), and was the head of development and production for Fog City Pictures, a Bay Area film production company. Michael is also an award winning writer and filmmaker, and entertainment attorney.
